Bob Day's Lean Manufacturing experience positions KEB team for further innovation and achievement

A man with more than 25 years leading edge experience in high quality, high efficiency manufacturing, Mr Bob Day, has been appointed General Manager by K E Brown Electrical Switchboards.

Mr Day complemented his early engineering and switchboard experience in one of the world's leading electrical companies, GEC, with management of customer-responsive lean manufacturing and kaizen programs supplying internationally competitive metal components and assemblies to organizations such as Ford, Toyota, Mercedes, General Motors, Aston Martin as well as local and national Government and Statutory Authorities.

After studying lean manufacturing at the University of Kentucky and BAMA in the USA, he put his training into practice in national and international programs that delivered enhanced quality, safety, production performance across six plants and two countries involving more than 800 employees.

While having obtained his Bachelor of Science degree from Sydney University he has focused much of his career on the implementation of significant shop floor productivity improvements while also obtaining Q1, ISO14001 and TS16949 accreditation for each facility.

KEB Chairman Dr Stephen van der Mye says Mr Day is ideally qualified to extend the in-house strengths of KEB, where he succeeds Mr Stephen Lovegrove who leaves after a long and valued career.

"Bob has highly relevant, energetic and hands-on management and production engineering experience across nationally respected companies. He is ideally qualified to continue to bring out the best in our highly valued team at KEB,

and in turn deliver the best outcomes for our customers, which include many of Australia's leading companies in their field.

Bob Day says he is enthused to be working with a team sharing a common focus on excellence and a willingness to exploit the strengths of lean manufacturing to extend KEB's reputation for innovation and customer-responsiveness.

"We have a strong team here with a willing tradition to do the best for our customers and each other. We are well equipped with high quality people and facilities across our current two plants, and we share the foresight to invest in people and skills where this helps to advance our shared objectives. Lean Manufacturing will focus our team on eliminating waste thus enhancing our competitiveness and the inherent value for money that KEB customers have come to expect. We aim to build on a proud tradition of more than 60 years manufacturing in Australia and to further project our achievements to the highest levels in the years ahead."
